Baseball Camp (June 6th-10th)
NYO Baseball Camp
- Monday - Friday
- 9:00am to 2:00pm
- Ages 5-13
- Players broken into age/skill appropriate groups
- at NYO - Chastain Park
- Camp T-shirt Included
Each week-long camp session is designed to teach the essential skills of baseball while having fun! Camp will focus on the major fundamentals of the game: hitting, throwing, fielding, catching and base running. Campers will run through various stations focusing on specific drills and fundamentals of the game. Each day will also consist of scrimmage games to let players compete and utilize skills learned from camp. Campers and families will enjoy an award ceremony on Friday afternoon as players compete during the week for camp awards. Camp offers a 10:1 camper to coach ratio which ensures players get proper instruction throughout the week.
Campers should bring their own lunch and water.
The NYO baseball camp will be led by Dan Giordano, ATL Lightning program director and 13U coach. Coach Gio has been coaching in the Atlanta area for over 20 years, including 16 seasons as the head baseball coach at Oglethorpe University in Brookhaven. He is the winningest baseball coach in modern school history, and has coached 75 All Conference athletes, 8 All Region players, 2 All Americans and an MLB draft pick. His teams were known for their offensive fire power, leading the conference in home runs for 5 consecutive seasons and leading the country in home runs in 2017. He has been honored by the Southern Athletic Association as Coach of the year, Georgia Dugout Club Division 3 Coach of the Year, and the Atlanta Braves 400 Club Coach of the Year. Coach Gio has been running top rated summer baseball camps in the Atlanta area for 15+ years. The AJC has ranked his camp as one the top 5 best baseball camps in Atlanta.
Coach Giordano will be assisted by current ATL coaches, as well as current high school and college players from the community.

Softball Camp (May 30th- June 3rd)
NYO Summer Softball Camps
- Monday - Friday
- 9am-2pm
- Ages 6-13
- At NYO Chastain Park
Each week long session will focus on softball skills and IQ. The camp will highlight..fielding, hitting, base running, sliding, overhand throw, and game-like situations. Each camper will run through specific stations to enhance their skills. We will scrimmage the last two days to practice the skills the campers learned throughout the week. The girls will be divided by age/skill level. Each athlete needs to bring a lunch and lots of water each day.
The Softball Camp will be led by Stan Jones, NYO/ATL Patriots Coach & Instructor. Coach Stan has been coaching in the Atlanta area for over 20 years, including 5 years as Coach/Board Member at Sandy Springs Youth Sports(1998-2002) and Coach/Instructor/Softball Committee at NYO(2003-present). Coach Stan was also Asst Varsity Softball Coach at Holy Innocents(2001-2003) and The Lovett School(2004-15). Coach Stan’s teams and students always focus on, teamwork, respecting the game and your opponents, playing fast and not being afraid to make mistakes.
Coach Stan will be assisted by several local All-State/Region HS softball players.

Camp Director - Kayla Cato Program Director ATL Patriots Softball
The Atlanta native and multi-sport athlete attended Druid Hills High School where she lettered in softball and basketball. Earning her bachelor's degree in mass communications from Claflin University, a top-ranked liberal arts HBCU, and her Master's degree in Sport Administration from Georgia State University, she leverages her ability to succeed in sports and people relations. Kayla has played softball for 16 years; she is also a former All-American collegiate and professional softball player. Currently a player development coach and varsity assistant coach at Pace Academy, Kayla continues to be indebted to the game, motivating and teaching young athletes.

Camp Director: Taylor Noland – Head Varsity Volleyball Coach
Coach Noland is in her ninth year as the head varsity volleyball coach. Noland coached the Bears to the A State Championship in 2013 and the AA State Championship in 2014 and 2015. She is the only coach at HIES to ever win back-to-back state championships. A graduate from the University of Tennessee, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcasting communications with a minor in geography, Taylor recently completed her master’s degree in coaching and athletic administration through Concordia University Irvine. Taylor spent her college career playing at Mississippi State University and The University of Tennessee at Martin. Taylor will be working in the Middle School as a P.E. teacher.
